Hi, I am Vinny
Chirayil (31) and live in Mumbai, India with my wife Caroline.
I have been in the CGI field for the past 10 years & have been fortunate
enough to have an all-round experience covering animation, compositing,
editing, graphic designing & training people, all of which have
contributed to a strong foundation.

my parents for their support & encouragement.
Graduation time ( 92 - 95 )
I did my B.Sc. in computer science from St. Joseph's College of Arts &
Science, Bangalore, India. Felt great to be out of college. I could
smell freedom !
My college also felt the same way about me !
The Media Fusion story ( 95
- 97 )
Fascinated by the Star Wars phenomenon, I thought that the computer
graphics field is what I am destined for & jumped straight into a WIPRO
certified multi-media course offered at Media Fusion, Bangalore. Had a
good time there learning, having fun, getting to hang around some
amazing people out there. Special thanks to Sanjay, Rajesh, Aby, Das,
Guru & Paul.
After finishing my course I was offered a job at Media Fusion and worked
there for 2 years supervising their training programs as a senior
faculty and also working on corporate presentations & couple of CD
titles. Strata Sudio Pro (mac) was my first 3d package & I was hooked at
the ease of use compared to 3d studio R4 (DOS). Also fiddled around with
a variety of softwares like Macromedia Director, Premiere, Photoshop,
Sound Forge & Morph and got my foundation right. After a while, I got
sick of working in high quality & downgrading it just so that some
stupid PC with Windows 95 could play it at 256 colors.
Television, here I come !
The Broadcast Media story (
97 - 99 )
This was a dream studio for me in those days. Biggest post house in
Bangalore at the time, I was zapped by their showreel. Jumped to 3D
Studio MAX & started creating graphics for corporate AVs & ad films. Got
to work with some great guys like Prem, Shyam & Mark. Had my share of fun &
learning and then it was time to move on.
Film, here I come !
Crest Animation Studios
Ltd. ( 99 - present )
Very excited to be here. A long time dream come true. Great team & work
culture. Based in Mumbai, it is one of India's largest 3D animation
studios. Shifted to Softimage 3D and eventually to XSI. Got to work &
supervise a variety of projects in Softimage 3D, XSI, MAX & Maya.
Currently, working as a background supervisor for 3 DVD projects
for US studios. Looking forward to working on a kickass 3D animated
feature film soon !
